Charles Chief Boyd, FCSI, CCS, AIA, Secretary/Treasurer
Charles Chief Boyd, FCSI, CCS, AIA, Principal of Thalden - Boyd Architects, an architectural firm with offices in Tulsa, OK, St. Louis, MO, and Las Vegas, NV. In the last 40+ years of architectural practice, after receiving a Bachelor of Architecture Degree from the University of Colorado, Chief has been an advocate of Native American Design as an expression of tribal cultures and a vehicle to improve the lives of Native Americans. The work done by his firm in recent years has primarily been Native American Gaming Facilities, Hotels and Conference Centers.
In addition to architectural practice, he is Secretary of the Board of Trustees of the Cherokee National Historical Society (for seven years of his 28-year involvement with the Board he was President), Board Member of the Tulsa Cornerstone Assistance Network (five years), and Secretary of the Construction Sciences Research Foundation (serving on the Board for 16 years). He was National President of CSI in 1987, and has taught continuing education courses in computer applications in the construction industry for AIA, CSI, ASLA, NCMA, BIA, DHI, University of Wisconsin, Florida International University, Southern Methodist University, University of Texas, University of Tulsa, Oklahoma State University, University of Oklahoma, University of Colorado, University of Kansas, Saint Louis University, Iowa State University, Northeastern Oklahoma State University, Southern Illinois University and Texas Tech University. He also teaches Sunday School at Will Rogers United Methodist Church in Tulsa.
Chief was named outstanding Native American Professional in the State of Oklahoma in 2001, received the Alpha Rho Chi Medal from the University of Colorado, School of Architecture in 1964, CSI Education Commendation in 1981, 6 x 86 Award NCMA in 1989, and many other awards. In addition to his awards, he has had numerous articles published throughout the United States and Australia.
