New SPECTEXT® Environmental Engineering Specification Including Water, Wastewater and Sanitary Specifications Now Available

CSRF has expanded its engineering specification offerings and introduced two new specification packages focusing on environmental engineering, including water, wastewater and sanitary projects.

The first of several specification packages to be offered in this new group, the SPECTEXT® Environmental Engineering Specification will provide larger engineering firms with a reference and resource for improving and updating their specifications. Smaller engineering firms specializing in these types of projects will find this specification useful in preparing project specs and developing and maintaining an office master specification system. Public works departments, sewer rehabilitation companies, municipalities, public agencies, school boards and land development companies will be able to establish their own specifications and develop a set of criteria as they work to inspect and rehabilitate their facilities.

The new SPECTEXT® Environmental Engineering Specification includes 118 Sections from Divisions 1 - 5, 7, 11, 13 and 16 including Series 0 Documents.

CSRF has introduced a new SPECTEXT® Environmental Engineering Add-On package including 15 Sections for current subscribers who specialize in water, wastewater and sanitary projects and wish to augment their current subscriptions with additional Sections to enable them to write project specifications or enhance their office master for these types of projects.

For additional information on features, package contents and pricing please visit www.spectext.com or contact the CSRF Support Center at 1-877-SPECTXT.

SPECTEXT® Frequently Asked Questions

The CSRF Support Center staff is available to answer any questions you may have regarding SPECTEXT®, SPECTEXT II®; and OUTLINE Specification. Some of the frequently asked questions we receive are shared below.

Q. What is included in a SPECTEXT®, SPECTEXT II® or OUTLINE Specification subscription package?

A. Subscribers receive all editions of their specification package that CSRF publishes within their subscription year. New editions include a complete CD-ROM containing subscription Sections, EDITSPEC® Section-Editing Tools and Introduction, SPECTEXT® Glossary of Terms, SPECTEXT® Speller, the SPECTEXT® User's Manual, the SPECTEXT® Glossary of Terms User's Manual, a comprehensive list of the standards organizations referenced within SPECTEXT® Sections, a SPECTEXT® binder containing hard copy of manuals, instructions, and information. Current subscribers receive free, unlimited technical support as part of their subscription./font>

Q. How is SPECTEXT® different from other specification writing systems?

A. SPECTEXT® is clear, concise and easier to use than other specification writing systems because of its straightforward language and format, easy-to-use section-editing tools, and shorter learning curve. SPECTEXT® provides just the right amount of information to streamline the editing process and enable users to write consistent and professional specifications in less time. Features built into each Section, such as automatic paragraph renumbering, hot links to Sweet's, ARCAT, Architects First Source, and 4Specs Web sites, editable Specifier Notes, metric (SI) and inch-pound (IP) measurements and choices throughout the section simplifies and expedites the specification writing process.

SPECTEXT® is 100% compliant with CSI MasterFormat™ 1995 section numbers and titles and conforms to the CSI Manual of Practice, SectionFormat™ and PageFormat™

Q. How often are new Editions of SPECTEXT® published?

A. Complete new editions of all SPECTEXT® and SPECTEXT II® subscription packages are published every January and July. Current subscribers receive each new edition that is published within their subscription year. Subscriptions are in effect for a full year from the initial date of subscription.

Q. Can I order individual Sections?

A. Certainly. Current and non-subscribers may order individual Sections of SPECTEXT® and SPECTEXT II® at a rate of $100.00 per Section for non-subscribers and $75.00 per Section for current subscribers. The cost of individual sections may be applied to the first year subscription rate of a new specification package containing the sections provided you subscribe to that package within 90 days from the date of sale of the individual sections.

Q. Can I install SPECTEXT® on a Local Area Network or Wide Area Network?

A. Yes. Many firms are utilizing LANs and WANs to maximize efficiency in sharing information between users and offices. Standard SPECTEXT® licensing offers a site license - not seat license - to one physical office location. Your firm may install SPECTEXT® on a LAN within that one physical office location so that it may be utilized by all users at that location at no additional cost.

To install and utilize SPECTEXT® on a WAN, CSRF has introduced special WAN licensing and pricing to enable users to incorporate SPECTEXT® corporate-wide. Firms who wish to utilize SPECTEXT® at several, but not all, of their office locations may be eligible for special Multi-Site licensing and pricing discounts.

For additional information, terms and pricing, please contact your SPECTEXT® representative at the CSRF Support Center.

CSRF to Discontinue Publication of WordPerfect 6.x and 5.1 for DOS and Microsoft Word 6.0 and 7.0 Word Processing Formats

Due to reduced demand from subscribers and discontinued support for WordPerfect 6.X and 5.1 for DOS and Microsoft Word 6.0 and 7.0 word processing formats from Microsoft and Corel, CSRF will discontinue publishing these word processing versions after the July 2001 Edition.

Microsoft Word Office 97, 2000 and 2002 and WordPerfect 7.0, 8.0, 9.0 and 10.0 word processing versions will be available in the January 2002 Edition. All of the word processing formats that CSRF supports are provided on every COMPREHENSIVE, SPECTEXT®, SPECTEXT II® and OUTLINE Specification package CD-ROM.

We encourage current subscribers to upgrade their word processing software to the later versions of Word and WordPerfect so that they may take advantage of the many new EDITSPEC® features available in these versions. Subscribers who have questions regarding this change, should contact their SPECTEXT® representative at 1-877-SPECTXT.
